Collings DS1A Adirondack Spruce and Figured Mahogany 12-Fret Dreadnought Used (2000)

This DS1A is the original 12-fret dreadnought shape, first designed as an oversized Hawaiian guitar almost a century ago built with an Adirondack top and Mahogany back and sides.  Collings has retained the shape and wide neck with slotted headstock from that bygone era, but their DS models are thoroughly modern guitars with a unique sound all their own. The longer body, with the bridge closer to the center of the lower bout, delivers an open, airy tone with smoothness and warmth not typically found in modern, 14-fret dreadnoughts. Whether flatpicked or played fingerstyle, these guitars have lots of headroom and the wide dynamic range invites everything from mellow accompaniment to biting leads.

This is a pre-owned 2000 model in good condition. This is a great player’s guitar with a broken in feel. A few dings, msotly on the stop and some scratches as well, all as expected for a 24 year old player’s guitar. There are some white flecks along the sides which is the pore filler turned white. This can happen occasionally as a guitar ages, especially on a porous wood such as Mahogany, and with the darker Mahogany stain this has (looking closer to a Rosewood) it stands out more. No structural or finish issues

Includes original hardshell case.
