This premier custom Style 1 from Santa Cruz is a true heirloom guitar. Built as a showpiece for the 2019 Winter NAMM Show, Santa Cruz Guitars went all out on this custom build. Premium vintage inspired custom specs and tonewoods throughout. The back and sides are built with premium Tier 1 Brazilian Rosewood, the holy grail of tonewoods, with stunning multi-figuring and flame throughout. The top is a premium set of German Spruce with custom Adirondack Spruce bracing and Hide Glue construction. That in itself makes this a collector’s guitar, but then add SCGC’s rare Abalone Pearl 45-style trim on every edge. Not to mention the rosette and neck and wedge border as well. Add in the 45-style Pearl Snowflake fretboard inlays and full Ivoroid bindings on top, and this custom Style 1 is a true showstopper.
The parlor-style body was the pinnacle of the art of guitar making up until the late 19th century. This was the optimal size for tonal perfection. The original body shapes that C.F. Martin & Co. built at that time included the Size 1, a relatively large guitar for the era. Fast-forward to the new millennium where this design is very well suited for contemporary fingerstyle techniques.
