Talk about a combination of highly sought after premium woods in a one of a kind custom Santa Cruz build. If you are looking for a master crafted guitar built with extremely rare tonewoods with a story, this is for you. This true heirloom quality collector’s OM is built with the legendary “The Tree” Mahogany back and sides paired with a 3000 year old Ancient Sitka Spruce top with full Snakewood bindings, bridge, rosette and headstock overlay, Adirondack Spruce bracing with hot hide glue, cowboy rope top purfling, Gold Waverly tuners with Snakewood buttons and more.

In the 1920’s, the Orchestra Model was originally intended to be a large guitar capable of being heard over other orchestral instruments, hence the OM name. Although it fit the bill, its relatively large body was soon eclipsed by the mighty dreadnought. Fortunately, the OM had secured its place in history as a powerful and versatile voice for public performance. Santa Cruz was among the first modern builders to reintroduce this now smaller bodied favorite at the beginning of the 80’s and is now their most requested body size. The OM embodies elegance, with quantity of volume, projection and bass. The extremely rare tone woods on this OM makes it an extremely versatile guitar. You can hear the history of these woods at the lightest touch. Warm, balanced and clear.

The Tree is a highly prized and sought after wild figured Mahogany from a single famous tree that was over 500 years old when it was cut down in the 1960’s in Belize. Lost to the jungle, this tree was rediscovered over a decade later in the mid 1970’s lying in a ravine. Still considered to this day to be the very best Mahogany available, the mesmerizing geometric patterned figuring found on this premium set is an extremely rare find, plus there just is not much of it left in the world today. The fact this wood only comes from one specific tree makes it some of the rarest wood in the world.

The Ancient Sitka Spruce top was unearthed on an island of Alaska after being buried in a landslide over 3000 years ago. Over the 3 millennia, the color has naturally changed to the ghostly hue it is now. That is not a stain- the smoky green/ grey color is the actual color of the wood. The tree was estimated to be 1000 years old when it fell. Due to the capsulizing of the tree, it did not rot but rather it aged over that time. That it was retrieved, found to be in workable condition, and then quarter sawn to make an amazing guitar, is an extraordinary feat for this piece of wood. There is an amazing tone and clarity of this Ancient Sitka Spruce top, which had been curing and aging already for a 1000 years at the time of Christ. You can feel the history with every strum.

Other features include Mahogany neck, Ebony fretboard, Snakewood backstrip, wedge strip and heelcap, Bone pins, Ivoroid script logo, 1 3/4″ nut width and more.
