Here at Down Home Guitars, we love unique, custom built guitars and here is a perfect example why. This masterfully crafted H13 custom is built with premium tonewoods with flashy good looks. You will be seen as well as heard with this dashing beauty. The H13 is Santa Cruz’s 13 fret deeper body build. Similar to a 000 but in the vein of the early 20th century Nick Lucas models, SCGC’s concept for the H13 is to achieve power beyond what would be expected in a small-bodied guitar. Two fundamental lutherie tricks make this possible: a longer string length (more downward pressure at the saddle) and more air space via a deeper body (increased volume and bass response). To place the bridge in the optimal position for power and maintain the longer string length, the neck needs to join the body at the 13th fret. This all adds up to a great build and it’s a great base on which to start a unique custom.

This H13 is built with African Blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon) back and sides, a true Rosewood from Eastern Africa properly named for it’s deep, dark coloring. This set has some wild figuring that pops once you see it through the dark exterior. A heavier Rosewood, this rare wood is said to rival the tone of the famed endangered Brazilian Rosewood, considered the Holy Grail of tonewood. Paired with a Swiss Moon Spruce sunburst top, wood that was cut around the last full moon of autumn in the Swiss Alps when the tree’s sap content is at the lowest and ideal stage for harvesting. Allowed to rest in the forest till spring, this properly acclimates the wood before any milling of the lumber. The eye catching feature is the custom Mother of Pearl century block inlays and Blue Paua Pearl 41-style top trim and rosette that is set off by the sunburst top and full backlit tortoise bindings and EVO Gold frets.

Other features include Adirondack Spruce bracing with hot hide glue construction under the hood, Ebony fretboard and pyramid bridge, custom backlit tortoise wedge, African Blackwood headstock overlay, Gold Waverly tuners, Mahogany V shaped neck with slotted headstock, S29 backstrip, 1 3/4″ nut width and more.

Includes Ameritage case and Lifetime Warranty.
