The Martin D-28 was originally introduced in 1931. Properly named the dreadnought after the largest ship in the British Navy (or anywhere for that matter) at the time, These 12-fret slot head bodies were the largest guitars produced at that time. Only 17 of these highly collectable models were produced between 1931-and 1933, when the modern style 14-fret dreadnought was introduced. With the launch of the Vintage Series, Martin brought back a modern reissue of the 12-Fret D-28 in 1996 as the HD-28VS.
Built with a Sitka Spruce vintage toner top scalloped braces and East Indian Rosewood back and sides (plus the addition of the modern dual action truss rod) with Ebony fretboard and bridge, this is a powerhouse dreadnought that does not lack in tone, depth and volume. Other features include herringbone top purfling, Grained Ivoroid bindings, Waverly Nickel tuners, Bone nut and traditional long saddle, Modified V neck shape with 1 3/4″ nut width and 2 1/4″ saddle spacing and more.
This excellent condition 2007 HD-28VS model was very well taken care of. Super clean with little to no fretwear. There is a K&K Pure Mini pickup installed making this plug and play ready perfect for stage, studio or home.
