Vintage inspired tonewoods and specs adorn this Martin 00-42 Custom Shop with Paua Pearl inlays and trim and 1933 Ambertone Burst finish. Hand picked Guatemalan Rosewood back and sides are paired with a premium Adirondack Spruce top with golden era style scalloped braces and Highly Flamed Hawaiian Koa full body, neck and headstock bindings topped with Paua Pearl 41-style top purfling, 45-style rosette, hexagon fretboard inlays and Torch headstock inlay with script logo.
This fancy 00 12-fret has the vintage vibe of early 20th centuury builds. We topped it with an Adirondack Red Spruce top which is considered the ‘Holy Grail’ of top woods due to it’s light yet stiff properties yielding a high level of vibration, volume and clarity. This is the wood of choice of the builders during the ‘golden era’ of guitar building, the early 1930’s through pre-war early 40’s. We completed the top with 1/4″ Adirondack Spruce ‘Golden Era’ style scalloped bracing, the same bracing used then also. The figured and colorful Guatemalan Rosewood body is a nice alternative to the Brazilian Rosewood found on early to mid century builds. The neck is one-piece Genuine Mahogany with satin finish and light stain with solid peghead and 1 3/4″ nut width for comfort. The wood combination creates a loud and clear, balanced tone with deep warm bass and bell like highs.
Other custom features of this custom 00-41 include Gold Grover tuners with vintage buttons, Guatemalan Rosewood headstock overlay, Liquid Metal ‘Bone’ bridge pins with red dots, Ebony fretboard and bridge, style-45 multi-colored chevron backstrip, 24.9″ short scale length, more. The nut width, modified low oval neck profile and 2 5/32″ saddle spacing will feel right at home in your hands.
