Handmade with master grade tonewoods, this mid sized jumbo is a comfortable and classic build. Figured Bastogne Walnut, a highly prized and rare hybrid between Claro and English Walnuts, makes up the back and sides. This wood is substantially harder than other Walnut varieties (paradoxically it grows faster than others) similar to Rock Maple or old growth Brazilian Rosewood. George Lowden said “Because of the hardness it gives a very defined clear sound, great for most playing styles…I love Walnut as a tonewood, particularly good with Redwood and Cedar tops and Sitka in mid sized (guitars)…Bob Taylor once described Walnut as ‘Rosewood on steroids’.” The top is Master grade Western Red Cedar with buttery and silky tight grain, a wonderful tonal pairing as George Lowden mentioned.
Features include custom Koa arm bevel and bindings, custom Abalone Pearl Leaf fretboard inlays, Mahogany and Rosewood 5-piece neck, Koa and Abalone rosette, Ebony extended fretboard with Maple purflng, Rosewood pinless bridge and more.
The F-50 has a full, balanced bottom end with clear mids and highs. Lowden guitars are finished in satin and have the look, sound and feel of old world craftmanship. Meticulous attention to detail and all wood marquetry make these heirloom quality instruments.
