A sparkling highlight of the Huss & Dalton collection at the 2026 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA, this DS Custom is the very first guitar to feature the Gold and Silver Mother of Pearl Art Deco fretboard and headstock inlay. The design was inspired by the Art Deco fireplace at the Staunton, Virginia workshop and was both developed and hand-cut in house by Huss & Dalton. This one-of-a-kind build features a premium set of highly flamed Fiddleback Mahogany for the back and sides, paired with a Bearclaw Lutz Spruce top with 2-tone all over sunburst finish and full Flamed Maple body, fretboard and headstock bindings. A nod to the traditional slope-shoulder guitars of the 1930s and ’40s, the Huss & Dalton DS Custom is designed for brawny power with premium tonewoods and dashing good looks.
Other features include Ebony fretboard and pyramid bridge, Ivoroid/ black top purfling and rosette, Mahogany neck, Nickel Waverly tuners with Black Pearl buttons, Ebony headstock overlay, Maple heelcap and wedge, zig zag backstrip, 1 23/32″ nut width and more.
Lutz Spruce (Picea x Lutzi) is a wonderfully light and projecting top wood that is a natural occurring hybrid of Sitka Spruce and White Spruce. Blending the positive characteristics of these (and its cousin, Engelmann spruce) together equals the robust tonal output found usually only in Adirondack spruce. This wood is a great pairing with Mahogany and yields a warm, powerful, clear and balanced tone.
