We strive to order custom one of kind instruments to have in the shop, and Huss & Dalton really accommodates with choice woods and options. We custom built this excellent condition 0 size 12-fret parlor size guitar in 2017 with stunning Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle, (one look and you see it is properly named!) and Adirondack Spruce top and braces. Another first of it’s kind spec we ordered from Huss & Dalton is the custom extra wide Cocobolo top purfling with black/ Maple edging, which sets off nicely with the Flamed Maple binding and vintage toner tinted Adirondack top. Built with the short scale 24.9″ scale with 1 3/4″ nut width, this very comfortable lap guitar is a joy to play and sounds as good as it looks.
Tiger Myrtle is a rare tonewood found in the rainforests of Tasmania. The black heartwood can cause the rare effect of streaking in the wood giving it the look of tiger stripes on the orangish hued wood. It has the responsiveness of Rosewood with the balance and clarity of midrange of Mahogany. The Adirondack top, considered the Holy Grail of top wood for it’s extreme light weight to stiffness ratio, accentuates these characteristics and pushed the highs and high mids to ring very clear with great volume and note separation.
