Named after the vibrant and eclectic South Congress district of Austin, TX, The all solid SoCo combines some of the most well-loved features and sounds from the heritage of semi-hollow guitars with a distinctive look and feel all its own. A 15″ lower bout gives this SoCo a lightweight comfortable, well balanced feel and exceptional note articulation. The ergonomically carved neck heel and long neck tenon ensures that each note can be accessed with ease and will ring with balanced sustain. The single-cutaway body design makes for greater mass and contact with the neck joint, providing solid low-end response and a resonance you can feel throughout the instrument. This custom SoCo is built with solid carved European Spruce top with Iced Tea burst, solid Mahogany back and sides, Ron Ellis Signature humbuckers and Ivoroid body and fretboard bindings.
The Signature pickups are Ron Ellis’ own recipe in creating the ultimate Humbucker style pickup. The set is a result of finding single-coil clarity in the humbucker format. The Signature set produces slightly less mid-range content, and clearly articulates both high and low notes to create a clean and melodic tonal signature. The set uses a unique recipe of materials to deliver the best of the best clear and articulate Patent Applied For sound and feel.
