The Traditional or “T” Series guitars reflect Bill Collings’ return to his guitar making roots and offer a new tonal variation on the distinctive Collings sound. Carrying on his legacy, the folks at Collings continue to carry on vision with the traditional series guild. This OM1 T features an Adirondack Spruce sunburst top with Honduran Mahogany back and sides with Collings’ traditional thin finish, making this exceptionally dynamic and responsive. The traditional nitrocellulose thin gloss finish is sanded to an even thinner thickness than their standard models, allowing the natural qualities of the tone woods to shine. Bracing and tone woods are adjusted for weight and thickness to create a voicing characterized by warm, rounded highs and a present low midrange, while retaining a quick attack and strong projection.
Traditional appointments, such as gold Mother of Pearl inlays, custom wood purflings and rosette, ultra-thin nitrocellulose amber lacquer body finish, no tongue brace, pre-war bracing with traditional voicing, and unique neck construction with distinct neck taper and rounded fingerboard edges for a played in feel are designed to complement the looser feel and voicing all add a classic touch to match the vintage tone.
The traditional OM1A features include Tortoise body bindings, Ebony fretboard and bridge, traditional Maple/ black top purfling and rosette, Gold Pearl dot inlays and logo, small Maple bridge plate, no tongue brace, Ebony headstock overlay, Waverly Nickel tuners, 1 3/4″ nut width and more.
