Padauk is a wonderful back and side wood from Africa that is slightly harder and heavier than Indian Rosewood with a stable, strong tone. Dana Bourgeois says that, “Padauk is the most promising replacement for Rosewood”. Dana and many other builders claim is as a good substitute for Brazilian rosewood. Called a wonderful “musical wood”, it produces a robust and deeper sound, a strong bass, rich with overtones.
