The DBJ is the King Daddy of Bourgeois Guitars. The Dana Bourgeois Jumbo measures 16 1/4″ across at the lower bout and is big on tone and presence. The DBJ Standard is a vintage inspired all business build, harking back to the early 20th century in style, but with 21st century expertise. A powerhouse no nonsense jumbo with premium tonewoods and a classic look. A great playing, good looking guitar. The jumbo is a rare build from Bourgeois, and we are mighty glad to have this one available.
The vintage black face top is Aged Tone Sitka Spruce The Aged Tone process used, called torrefaction, mimics the aging of wood over time by essentially cooking the resins in a very controlled process that in essence age the wood as would happen naturally over decades. The Honduran Mahogany back and sides have some wonderful figuring giving a great balance and warmth to the guitar. The Ivoroid bindings and pickguard give the top the vintage inspired tuxedo look and the Madagascar Rosewood fretboard and rectangle bridge completes the vintage vibe. The 25″ short scale and 1 23/32 ” nut width will feel right at home. The Adirondack bracing with Animal Protein glue (AP) under the hood gives it an extra boost. Big tone in a big body you can feel. Clarity and punch- a force to be reckoned with.
