This Bourgeois 00-42 has a voice all its own, warm but with a surprisingly punchy, direct sound. We think of it as the ultimate “couch potato guitar”: Super comfortable to play, it’s the one you’ll keep nearby and gab whenever the urge strikes to croon Beatles tunes, shred blues licks, or write a song. Take it to a jam and you may be surprised that you’re not only heard but also listened to.
This vintage inspired Bourgeois 00-42 from Dana Bourgeois and company in Lewiston, ME is built with a great set of Madagascar Rosewood back and sides with rich color reminiscent of Brazilian Rosewood paired with an Aged Tone torrefied Carpathian Spruce top from the Carpathian Mountains in Eastern Europe, often called European Red Spruce. This guitar was a showpiece at the 2023 Fretboard Summit luthier’s showcase in Chicago, IL this August.
All the features you need in an eye catching versatile and comfortable 00 short scale guitar. Madagascar Rosewood back and sides, Aged Tone torrefied Adirondack Spruce bracing, plus Animal Protein (AP) glue construction, along with the torrefied top and braces, bring this 00-42 to life. The fancy Abalone Pearl 42-style top purfling, rosette and Snowflake fretboard inlays sets this apart.
Other features include Waverly Gold engraved tuners, Madagascar Rosewood headstock overlay, Ebony fretboard and bridge, Dana Bourgeois signature backstrip, Madagascar Rosewood floating box wedge, Antique bone pins, 1 3/4″ nut width and 2 5/16″ string spacing at the saddle. The 00-42 is a very versatile guitar with drive and presence perfect for any style of playing.
