James Goodall has made exquisite guitar by hand for years. This is an Excellent condition 2003 traditional OM TBOM with Master Grade Adirondack top and striking Highly Figured Bubinga back and sides and Fishman pickup installed, made in his Kailua-Kona Hawaii shop. Very well taken care of with only a few very fine scratches on the headstock and pickguard. Very little fretwear as well.
Bubinga, sometimes called African Rosewood, is a bit harder and denser than Brazilian or Indian Rosewood giving it great sustain and clarity throughout and warm booming low/ low mid range, and even tones throughout. Paired with Master Grade Adirondack, considered the Holy Grail of top woods for it’s ultra light yet stiff ratio resulting in high energy movement, this guitar has a boost of volume robust tones and amazing note separation with a high ceiling of vibration. Extremely well tuned and balanced. A great and confortable fingerpicker’s guitar, this will also amaze the flatpicker as well. Great for fiddle tune leads and backup alike.
The Goodall OM
Its tone is extremely powerful in the bass and midrange, with an emphasis on a broad warmth without lacking treble. All of our Traditional series models features a custom, partially scalloped bracing pattern which produces a bit more ‘boominess’ in the bass and midrange. The peghead and bridge have been redesigned for a more conservative visual appeal, with open gear Waverly tuning machines contributing to it’s charm. It is attractively arrayed with a herringbone marquetry rosette and top purfling, and a chevron marquetry backstrip. It has been designed especially with the flatpicker and the bluegrass player in mind.
