Some tone woods sound great, others look cool. Options combined together- top, back and sides, neck fretboard and bridge etc., plus the range of body sizes, and the tonal palette is endless. Cocobolo is a great sounding tonewood that is extremely visual. A true Rosewood (Dalbergia retusa), Cocobolo is found near the Pacific Coast of Central America. This custom TD-R from our friends at Huss & Dalton Guitars in Staunton, VA features a great set of Cocobolo for the back and sides with red/ orange hue highlighted by black grain streaks with stunning contrasting heartwood. We paired this with a light and clean Italian Spruce top with their traditional flat top construction, added full Ivoroid bindings all around and topped it off with handpicked vivid Cocobolo fretboard, bridge and headstock overlay making this a striking dreadnought to behold. Adirondack Spruce scalloped bracing with Hide Glue construction drives this beasty build adding extra horse power under the hood.
Other features include herringbone top purfling, Ivoroid body, fretboard and headstock bindings, Mahogany satin finish neck with volute, Abalone Pearl square and diamond fretboard inlays, traditional multi-ring rosette, Ivoroid heelcap and wedge, Waverly Nickel tuners, 1 23/32″ nut width, 2 7/32″ saddle spacing, 25.4″ scale length and more.
This brilliant TD-R custom comes to life from the first strum. A perfect marriage of tone woods and visual contrast enhancing all the clarity, volume and bass response Huss & Dalton is known for.
