The premium Cocobolo back and sides are incredible sounding and looking with eye popping colorful deep reds and contrasting streaks. The top is stunning Aged Tone (torrefied) “Bearclaw” Sitka Spruce with torrefied Adirondack Spruce braces and Animal Protein (AP) glue construction. The smokey custom sunburst top highlights the figuring in the top, reminiscent of a bear’s claw dragged across the top, pulling the grain, hence it’s name. This is a highly sought after figure known for it’s unique and interesting look that is also the sign of an old, slow growing tree, a big plus for guitar tonewoods.
The Dana Bourgeois DB Signature specs on this Legacy series model feature custom full highly Flamed Hawaiian Koa bindings, multi-colored herringbone top purfling, Gold Waverly tuners with Snakewood buttons and wood Arrow backstrip. These tie this amazing guitar together. The center piece of this build is the Abalone rosette surrounding the large soundhole bound in Koa as well as the Abalone arrows and diamonds fretboard inlay and arrow in the Cocobolo headstock overlay.
An amazing sound, you would not believe this is an OM size body. Think small dreadnought. This is like a lap piano. A breadth and depth of sound and tone with amazing clarity.
