Talk about a combination of highly sought after premium woods in a one-of-a-kind ornate custom Santa Cruz build. If you are looking for a master crafted guitar built with extremely rare tonewoods with a story, this is for you. One of our favorite wood combinations of all time, this true heirloom quality collector’s H13 is built with the legendary “The Tree” Mahogany back and sides paired with a 3000 year old Ancient Sitka Spruce top with colorfully mesmerizing Blue Paua Pearl ‘Tree of Life’ fretboard and headstock inlays with matching Paua Pearl 42-style top trim, fretboard trim and rosette and wrapped in full Snakewood bindings with Snakewood bridge and topped with Waverly Nickel tuners with Snakewood buttons.

The Tree is a highly prized and sought after wild figured Mahogany from a single famous tree that was over 500 years old when it was cut down in the 1960’s in Belize. Lost to the jungle, this tree was rediscovered over a decade later in the mid 1970’s lying in a ravine. Still considered to this day to be the very best Mahogany available, the mesmerizing geometric patterned figuring found on this premium set is an extremely rare find, plus there is very little of it left in the world today. The fact this wood only comes from one specific tree makes it some of the rarest wood in the world.

The Ancient Sitka Spruce top was unearthed on an island of Alaska after being buried in a landslide over 3000 years ago. Over the 3 millennia, the color has naturally changed to the ghostly hue it is now. That is not a stain- the smoky green/ grey color is the actual color of the wood. The tree was estimated to be 1000 years old when it fell. Due to the capsulizing of the tree, it did not rot but rather it aged over that time. That it was retrieved, found to be in workable condition, and then quarter sawn to make an amazing guitar, is an extraordinary feat for this piece of wood. There is an amazing tone and clarity of this Ancient Sitka Spruce top, which had been curing and aging already for a 1000 years at the time of Christ. You can feel the history with every strum.

The H13 is Santa Cruz’s 13-fret deeper body build. Similar to a 000 but in the vein of the early 20th century Nick Lucas models, SCGC’s concept for the H13 is to achieve power beyond what would be expected in a small-bodied guitar. Two fundamental lutherie tricks make this possible: a longer string length (more downward pressure at the saddle) and more air space via a deeper body (increased volume and bass response). To place the bridge in the optimal position for power and maintain the longer string length, the neck needs to join the body at the 13th fret. This all adds up to a great build and it’s a great base on which to start a unique custom.

Other features include Adirondack Spruce scalloped bracing with hot hide glue construction, Mahogany neck with custom solid headstock, Ebony fretboard and headstock overlay, custom Snakewood back strip and wedge strip, Mother of Pearl SCGC logo, Ebony pins with Pearl dots, Snakewood heelcap, Bone nut and saddle, 1 3/4″ nut width 25.375″ scale length and more.

Includes Ameritage hardshell case and Lifetime Warranty.
