Here are some of the glowing reviews and testimonials that we’ve received!
Steve: The Ressler guitar arrived in great shape, and it is a phenomenal guitar. The workmanship is exquisite and the sound is superb – very balanced and rich with sustain forever. The neck is extremely playable and comfortable, and the woods (especially the top) are simply remarkable. Thanks so much for steering me to this exceptional instrument. I could not be happier with the choice. Again, my sincere appreciation for your excellent assistance! I started by purchasing a Collings F5 mandolin. I relied strictly on photos and the owner’s (Steve) description of the instrument. Steve responded quickly and accurately to all of my questions. I purchased the instrument and could not be more pleased. A week later, I drove the 7 hrs from Pittsburgh to the shop to look at a Bourgeois guitar. I got to meet Steve and he spent time answering all of my questions and let me have time by myself to play the guitar – which I purchased. Given that I have a shop in my own backyard who is a dealer for both instruments, why drive 7 hrs? The name of the shop says it all, I truly felt like I was ” down home”! No pretentiousness, just friendly folks with whom you want to do business. Very pleased with the purchase! Great seller, good communication, guitar packaged very well and shipped quickly! Thanks Steve for the great service! Down Home Guitars is like the sparkle in the diamond! This fine acoustic guitar boutique is a warm and inviting atmosphere to visit. Steve and Molly and staff always have a smile and make you feel right at home! I love passing by and going in to chat or just to pick up a gift or something for myself. I have purchased multiple guitars and a ukulele at DHG and have always been more than satisfied. I have also taken many lessons here. I will conclude with a thumbs up for the talented teaching staff!! I love this place!! Down Home Guitar is a great place for acoustic-music lovers in the south suburbs of Chicago. 1. They sell a wide variety of acoustic stringed instruments, from cheap beginner instruments to some very high-end instruments. Personally, I have bought a 12-string guitar, a ukulele, and a bass guitar, plus numerous sets of strings and picks from them. 2. Throughout the year they have about 10 to 12 concerts. The listening room holds about 80 people and is acoustically perfect for the shows. Not a bad seat in the room. And the acts that play there are often very high-level performers: Special Consensus, J. D. Crowe, Blue Highway, the Hillbenders, and more. I’ve never seen a bad show there. 3. On Thursday nights they host a great jam, with us amateur musicians pickin’ and grinnin’. 4. They also offer lessons on many instruments and voice. Personally, I haven’t taken advantage of these lessons since I prefer to keep playing poorly.![]()
