An amazing OM from Santa Cruz Guitars built with “The Tree” Mahogany back and sides paired with an old growth Adirondack Spruce sunburst top. The Tree is the highly prized and sought after wild figured Mahogany from a single famous tree that was over 500 years old when it was cut down in the 1960’s in Belize. Lost to the jungle, this tree was rediscovered over a decade later in the mid 1970’s lying in a ravine. Still considered to this day to be the best Mahogany available, the mesmerizing geometric patterned figuring found on this premium set is an extremely rare find, plus there just is not much of it left in the world today.
Putting together premium custom guitars is what Richard Hoover and company at Santa Cruz do best. Perfectly pairing The Tree Mahogany with an old growth Adirondack Spruce top cut down in the 1940’s with Adirondack Spruce scalloped bracing and Hide Glue construction (the same glue used on the golden era instruments) this guitar has a tone like glass- it shimmers and it barks. Warm lows and mids with punch and forward powerful high mids and highs, it is an extremely balanced guitar that sings in your hands. The look is complete with The Tree Mahogany headstock overlay, S29 fancy top purfling and backstrip, full Ivoroid bindings and more all tying this masterful piece of musical art together.
