About Santa Cruz’s Moon Spruce
The Florinett Family of the Swiss Alps provides Santa Cruz with their Master Grade Moon Spruce, and their family has been in this business for over 500 years. Harvested at night, based on the cycles of the Moon, the wood is most often cut at the last full moon of fall when sap content in the trees are the lowest. Left to cure through the winter, the trees are then harvested in the spring. The same process that has been in use for centuries in Europe, and the same that was used for Stradivarius wood as well.
