To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Santa Cruz Guitar Company, Richard decided to bring a favorite older model back into production for a limited run of twelve guitars in 2016. Having had such a wonderful time restoring a 1980s FTC for Eric Clapton in 2015, it was an easy choice to put the carved back, flat top F cutaway model into production once again, offering players a most unique instrument that has the projection of an archtop, with the sustain of a flattop. Due to the painstaking task of building these carved back guitars, only a hand full have been made since their limited run.
42 style Abalone purflings adorn the top as well as the Pearl art deco fretboard and rosette. full Ivoroid bindings gracefully tie the guitar together, marrying the premium European Spruce top and carved Flamed Maple back sides and neck with Santa Cruz’s classy full body burst.
