Lowden S-50J Macassar Ebony and Alpine Spruce Nylon String Jazz Series

George Lowden designed the Jazz Series with nylon strings and an internal pickup fitted as standard so that it would feel very comfortable for classical and steel string players alike. The neck has enough width to facilitate the nylon strings but at the same time the cambered fingerboard allows for a wide variety of playing styles. Voiced for a really great acoustic response, and at the same time stiff enough for loud volume to be possible without the whole guitar over-reacting when played loud through a sound system with the LR Baggs Session VTC pickup. The tone is very natural and full with none of the over bright tones sometimes found on too lightly built classicals.

This premium S-50J pairs stunning master grade Macassar Ebony back and sides with the crisp and clear European Alpine Spruce top that gives warmth and clarity from a light touch to strumming and is perfect for stage, studio or home. Features include figured Koa bindings, Mahogany, Rosewood and Purple Heart 5-piece neck with slotted headstock, Koa and Abalone bound soundhole rosette, Ebony extended fretboard with Maple purflings, Rosewood bridge, Ebony headstock overlays, Walnut backstrip, LR Baggs Session VTC pickup, venetian cutaway, Gold Gotoh 3 per-side tuners with Ebony buttons and more.

Based on the comfortable ’S’ body size, the Jazz model is a nylon string ‘cross-over’ model that is designed to be used for a variety of playing styles. The neck is wide enough to accommodate the nylon strings (1 7/8″ at the nut with 2 3/8″ saddle spacing) and yet the fingerboard is cambered to allow easy playing for steel string players. The voicing of the guitar allows for a great acoustic response while not being overly lively and overpowering while amplified.

Includes deluxe Ameritage hardshell case and Lifetime Warranty.
