George Lowden, being one to seek out and reclaim some of the best woods from the past, locally sourced the old growth Mahogany used for the back and sides from an old church pew in Belfast, Ireland. This great quarter sawn Honduran Mahogany was most imported to Ireland in the 1700- 1800’s. Available only on the top of the line Master Grade woods of the 50 series, this wood has a lovely history. No matter your faith, there is no denying the powerful energy of many years of song, prayer and reflection shared with this wood.
The O-50 is the original jumbo sized build from George Lowden and Company in Northern Ireland featuring Master Grade tone woods and appointments. The Master Grade Sitka Spruce top is a great match to the Church Pew Mahogany back and sides along with custom Church Pew Mahogany and Rosewood neck, Church Pew Mahogany fretboard trim and logo, Ebony contoured arm bevel and bindings and Abalone Pearl 38-style top trim. This is a special guitar with classic appointments, vintage woods and great vibes built in.
Other features include figured Koa and Abalone rosette, Ebony fretboard, Rosewood pinless bridge, Ebony backstrip & heel cap, Walnut wedge, Bone nut and split saddle, 1 3/4″ nut width and more.
