This F-35C Fan Fret is built with an entrancing set of AAAA Quilted Maple back and sides, a rare offering from Lowden Guitars. The multiple figure and striping give a great contrast of depth, like ripples of water in the sunlight. The top is a AAAA grade set of Lutz Spruce, a perfect combo with the figured Maple body. Lutz Spruce (Picea x Lutzi), is a natural occurring hybrid of Sitka Spruce and White Spruce. Blending the positive characteristics of Sitka Spruce and White spruce (and its cousin, Engelmann spruce) together equals the robust tonal output found usually only in Adirondack spruce. Bound in Indian Rosewood, this gives a nice contrast to the lighter tonewoods and accentuates the comfortable venetian cutaway and the 5-piece matching figured Maple and Rosewood neck completes the build. The curious angled bridge, frets and nut to accommodate the elongated fan fret scale for versatility and robust tone add to the mystique of this custom Lowden. The factory installed LR Baggs Anthem dual source pickup with volume and blend control in the soundhole and matching gold strap button in the neck make the F-35C Fan Fret ready to go for stage, studio or home.
Great for drop and alternate tunings as well as standard, the fan fret design opens up a whole new realm of possibilities. Looking foreign to the newbee to fan frets, you will be amazed at how comfortable and natural it is. It’s hard for your fingers to not find where to go. It’s actually more natural for the way our fingers lay on the fingerboard, allowing space and comfort. The F body is a comfortable mid sized jumbo size with 1 3/4″ nut width 15 7/8″ lower bout and 4 3/4″ body depth.
