This very clean excellent condition 2023 Signature Baby model from Irvin Guitars is constructed with premium figured Hawaiian Koa back and sides with sound port paired with a Lutz Spruce top with stunning Koa and Abalone Pearl rosette, Ebony bindings, Mahogany, Maple and Padauk 5-piece neck and more.
Handcrafted by boutique luthier Wayne Irvin Johnson in Springfield, MO, the Irvin Signature Baby could be called a ‘mini-jumbo’ as it retains the same shape as the Irvin SJ but is reduced in its overall size by about 25%. The intent was to create a remarkable option for players looking for a world class guitar that is unbelievably comfortable to play. Don’t let the size fool you- despite its compact size, the Irvin Baby showcases an impressive level of design and refined craftsmanship with the signature Irvin clarity, balance, sustain and volume. With it’s 12-fret body, 14″ lower bout, and 24.9″ short scale length, it is a versatile and extremely comfortable build.
The SB features an exceptional blend of tonal characteristics throughout. The top is Lutz Spruce- a naturally occurring hybrid of Sitka Spruce and White Spruce sourced from the renowned Pacific Rim Tonewoods. This premium set combines the robust dynamic range and responsiveness of Sitka Spruce with the warm and clear broken-in feel typically associated with Engelmann Spruce. Paired with this exceptional set of figured Hawaiian Koa with rich orange hue with dark contrasting vertical grains and tight flame across and a touch of light heart wood through the center, this guitar is a feast for the senses.
Other features include Ebony fretboard and bridge, Koa and Maple top purfling, Ebony headstock front overlay, Koa back of headstock overlay, Gotoh 510 Black Chrome tuners, Ebony bridge pins with Abalone dots with Brass rings, Bone nut and saddle, Maple fretboard purfling, Koa heelcap, Ebony wedge and more.
