Gibson Custom 1957 SJ-200 Reissue Sunburst Flamed Maple and Torrefied Sitka Spruce VOS Super Jumbo (2024)

$5,500.00

The Gibson SJ-200 is one of the most iconic acoustic guitars in the world. From its inaugural appearance in 1937, it has set a standard others have been trying to match ever since. The original jumbo dubbed ‘king of the flattops’, it has been used on stage by more famous musicians than there is time in the day to list. The Custom Shop 1957 J-200 has the vintage vibe and feel from the era that gave birth to some of the most prized Gibson Acoustic instruments with details such as hand-selected Maple for the back and sides, a headstock stinger, Gibson signature Rosewood mustache bridge and thermally aged (torrefied) top for the full vintage effect.

Upon its introduction in the late 1930s, the SJ-200 immediately filled a need for a deeper, more balanced and powerful sound. It gave purveyors of the new American music scene of the 1930s a reliable, well-built instrument, capable of projecting the sound of the guitar well beyond that of any other acoustic on the market—a fact that still holds true today. It is one of the world’s most famous and popular acoustic guitars.

This excellent condition 2024 1957 SJ-200 features a torrefied Sitka Spruce top, Flamed Maple back, sides and neck, VOS Nitrocellulose thin finish, full body sunburst, traditional hand scalloped bracing with hide glue, Rosewood fretboard and mustache bridge, Gibson casted floral pickguard, Mother of Pearl Crown fretboard and headstock inlays, cream full bindings, Gotoh Gold Kluson style Keystone tuners, Bone nut and saddle, 1.724″ nut width and more.

Guitar is very clean with no blemishes to speak of and very little to no fret wear.
