The Collings MT2 is their fully appointed A-model mandolin with full bindings and full gloss blonde nitrocellulose finish. This is a rare fully torrefied model that we custom ordered with a carved Adirondack Red Spruce top and Premium Flamed Maple back and sides. The torrefaction proccess “bakes” the wood, similar to a kiln dry process. This cooks out the soft fibers and oil found in newer wood and turns the clock ahead. It mimics what would happen to the instrument over a long period of time and playing, opening up the wood. This MT2 A has bark, chop, warmth and overall clarity you would expect with that old style broken in feel.
Aesthetics like the full gloss natural blonde finish and bound Tortoise pickguard and bindings make it stand out. This natural finish shows off the deep colors of the all torrefied woods.
