This great custom is built with hand picked 5A Master Grade Flamed Cuban Mahogany back and sides paired with old growth Sinker Bearclaw Sitka Spruce for a winning tone wood combination. Features include full Cocobolo body, fretboard and headstock bindings, Abalone rosette, DB Signature multi-colored herringbone top purfling, Abalone and Mother of Pearl Chevron fretboard and headstock inlays, Gold Waverly tuners with Snakewood buttons, Ebony fretboard, bridge and headstock overlay, DB wood arrow backstrip, Ebony pins with Pearl dots, 1 11/16″ nut width, 2.2″ saddle spacing and more.
The Sinker Sitka Spruce was reclaimed from an old Alaskan fish trap and was originally cut around the turn of the century late 1800’s/ early 1900’s. The logs were tied together to make huge floating fish traps. This rare tonewood was salvaged from 100+ year-old structures originally used to corral and trap salmon. A century of submergence under brackish waters has imparted unique resonant characteristics and a distinctive bluish hue to this remarkable tonewood.
The Master grade Sitka Spruce was from a Cuban Mahogany tree that grey on an estate in Hawaii. This girthy tree has offered up some of the tightest flamed figure Bourgeois (or us!) have ever seen. A stellar example of this excellent wood. Cuban is just a bit denser than standard Honduran Mahogany, and gives it a little extra punch with just a tad darker overtones. We custom ordered this with no stain on the body or neck. Most times Mahogany has a stain on it that makes it brown. This is the actual color of the Mahogany as well as the Sinker Sitka so you can see it in the flesh.
The OM Large Soundhole Deep Body has an amazing sound, you would not believe this is an OM size body. Think small dreadnought. This is like a lap piano. A breadth and depth of sound and tone with amazing clarity. Punch, warmth and brilliance, this is a very versatile guitar. It can easily hold it’s own in a jam played with a flatpick, or fill a room fingerstyle.
