The L-DBO is an iconic guitar, reminiscent of the very popular L sized guitars of the early to mid 20th century, but with some contemporary upgrades. The L-DBO is larger than a 00, slightly smaller than the 000/OM, and designed with a 25” scale neck. It’s relatively narrow upper bout imparts a distinctive wedge-shaped appearance, setting it apart from smaller and midsized guitars. As significantly, the L-DBO conceals two secret weapons: An unusually large soundhole for its size, and narrow, 1/4” top bracing which combine to produce unusual power and presence in such a small package. The comfortable smaller body and short scale make this a favorite with fingerstyle and blues players, folkies or really just about anyone. “After a lifetime of playing Dreadnoughts, the L-DBO has become my go-to guitar”, says founder Dana Bourgeois. “Close your eyes and listen to Sierra Hull or Courtney Hartman work an L-DBO on a mic. You’re forgiven for thinking that’s a much larger guitar.”
Featuring Aged Tone torrefied Adirondack Spruce for the top braces which is paired perfectly with the old growth Sinker Mahogany back and sides. Sinker Mahogany is centuries old river salvaged old growth Mahogany, a rare wood that was encapsulated in the bottom of the river since originally felled long ago. This old wood ages over the centuries, curing and aging, and now dried and made into a guitar, sounds the way only old wood can. The complete Aged Tone package- Bourgeois’ proprietary Aged Tone thin gloss finish, Animal Protein Glue construction plus the Aged Tone Adirondack Spruce top and braces drives this custom L-DBO with a true traditional vintage vibe.
