Shortening a neck from 14 to 12 frets moves the bridge closer to the tail block, by a distance exactly equal to the length by which the neck is shortened. This configuration places the bridge at the center of the widest part of the lower bout, the most efficient location from which to drive a top. In the larger Bourgeois DS 12-Fret Slope D, the result is an uncommonly full, rich and bold unique voice.
This DS 12-Fret Standard is built with Mahogany back and sides paired with an Aged Tone (torrefied) Adirondack Spruce sunburst top. The full Aged Tone package- Aged Tone thin finish and Animal Protein (AP) Glue construction along with the torrefied top and braces bring this DS 12-Fret to life. A great perfect pairing of tone woods, build, body size and scale length result is a broken in feel with clarity, warmth, depth and punch. The Mahogany back and sides is warm and balanced and the very light and stiff Adirondack Spruce top drives the vastness of tone. Notes ring through easily at the lightest strum or fingerpicked. The full and rich open power of a 12-fret dreadnought guitar is a force to reckon with.
