Completely vintage inspired, this is a no frills, bad to the bone dreadnought from Dana Bourgeois. A showpiece ate the 2023 IBMA World of Bluegrass in Raleigh, NC this September, this understated bluegrass cannon has all the drive you would want without all the frills. Built with the premium ‘holy grail’ of tone wood combinations- pairing wonderful Brazilian Rosewood Back and sides with an Aged Tone torrefied Adirondack Spruce top with large soundhole (LSH). The full Aged Tone package- Aged Tone thin gloss finish, Animal Protein (AP) Glue construction along with the torrefied top and braces brings this bluegrass cannon to life.
A take on Clarence White’s D-28 that was played by Tony Rice dubbed “The Antique” (and has passed on to Bryan Sutton after Tony’s passing) this powerful dreadnought has vintage features and vibe like Ivoroid bound body and extended fretboard with no inlays, vintage herringbone purfling, Ivoroid bound large soundhole, Brazilian Rosewood blandk headstock overlay and more.
Other features include Waverly relic tuners with oval buttons, Aged Tone torrefied Adirondack Spruce scalloped braces, and more. The strings spacing measures 1 23/32″ at the nut and 2.2″ at the saddle, perfect for driving the train with this vintage inspired dread.
