Limited to only 20 guitars worldwide, the Bourgeois 000 Vintage Limited Edition is the best of both worlds. The sought after winning tonewood combination of the rare and highly prized Brazilian Rosewood back and sides paired Adirondack Spruce top and braces and at an exceptional unheard of price. Bourgeois decided to introduce the 000 Limited Edition by sharing the benefits of a windfall Brazilian Rosewood acquisition. The 000 LE is generously priced at $12,499 MSRP, while the standard pricing for this model in Brazilian Rosewood is $16,799.
In the mid-1980s Dana Bourgeois helped pioneer the reintroduction of the long-scale, wide-necked Orchestra Model, now the second most popular acoustic guitar after the Dreadnought. The OM’s short-scale 000 cousin, however, often receives less attention from dealers and players. Seeking to give the 000 a more distinct sonic identity, Dana has reduced the standard X brace to
1/4” width, resulting in a powerful, responsive voice not often associated with short-scale guitars. With the exception of the Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, the 000 LE features appointments identical to the standard Heirloom Series 000, including a 25’ scale neck, 1 23/32” nut, and an Adirondack top.
Features include Animal protein glue construction, Ivoroid bindings, 30’s style herringbone top purfling, Ebony fretboard and bridge, Mahogany neck, Abalone Pearl square and diamonds fretboard inlay, Waverly Nickel tuners, Madagascar Rosewood headstock overlay, Bone pins and more. Interior label signed by Dana Bourgeois and numbered #20 of 20.
The 000 is identical in body size to the 14-fret OM, though with a 25″ shorter scale. A short scale length brings the nut a little closer to the player, slightly reduces string tension and improves ease of playability, though at the expense of modestly reduced single-note power and presence. The 000 guitar has been favored for generations as a go-to instrument for vocal accompaniment.
