Free US Shipping
We ship all instruments FREE (and any accessories over $100) via FedEx standard ground shipping free of charge within the continental United States. Would you like it there sooner? No problem. We just charge you the added cost to receive the product sooner than standard ground shipping allows. Call us for overnight or 2 day quotes. All instruments are shipped adult signature required. Down Home Guitars is not responsible for instruments requested to be left no signature required.
International Shipping
We ship items all over the world. International shipping does not qualify for free shipping. Contact us for a quote. You are responsible for all shipping charges and will be responsible for any or all import/ duty taxes in your country. To ensure full insurance for shipped items, we will under no circumstances reduce the customs value of any order.
-International purchases are void or our trial period and are non-refundable.
48-Hour Trial Period
Bring Down Home Guitars to you! We know many of you are too far away to come to Down Home Guitars, do not have dealers near you to try some of the boutique brands we carry, or just prefer testing a guitar in your own home. That is why we offer a hassle free 48 hour ‘Shop at Home’ trial period! Once you receive the instrument, you have 2 full days to try it out in your own environment to see how well it fits with you. If you like it, just keep it and your purchase is complete! If you decide it is not for you, no problem. Just contact us within 48 hours that you will be returning the instrument*. After 48 hours, it is yours.
* Shipping outside the continental United States, custom orders and purchases involving trade-ins void the trial period. Trying an instrument in-store is considered your trial period. We do not grant an in-home trial period or returns to instruments purchased in the shop. Requested alterations to an instrument by us or the customer (e.g. pickup installations, strap buttons, case alterations etc..) void the trial period as well. A requested delay in shipping of 5 days or more will also void the trial period. All sales under any of these circumstances are final.
Returns
We offer no hassle returns. If you decide a particular instrument is not right for you and decide to send it back, no problem. As long as we are contacted within the 48 hour trial period (continental US only), we will authorize the return. Just pack the item securely in the box with original packing materials and send via FedEx or UPS insured back to us the next business day*. You are responsible for all shipping costs. Upon inspection that the item is in the condition that it left the store, we will promptly refund your account the full amount minus our initial shipping cost.
There are no returns on international sales, instruments purchased in store, custom order instruments, purchases with trade ins, or on instruments with any requested alterations (i.e. pickup or strap button installations) performed by our shop prior to shipping or by the customer upon receiving the instrument.
*Failure to make return arrangements and ship in the allotted time will void the return and sale will be final.
Custom Orders
Order your own custom instrument! Want something you don’t see on our website? Interested in an instrument from one of our great builders customized for you? Let our team of professionals help you custom order an instrument or work with you to design your own custom build. We are experienced in designing and working with our master builders to customize something unique. Maybe you just want a different neck, maybe custom tone woods or inlays, whatever you might be looking for we are here to help. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to place an order.* Contact us for more details.
*Deposit must be paid to place a custom order. Deposit is non-refundable. Payment in full is required by completion of instrument. Custom Order sales are final and void the 48 hour trial period.
Trade-Ins
Trade up to a new guitar! We would be glad to discuss a trade in value on your instrument to help fit you in a new one. While we aren’t interested in everything you have to get rid of, we do take trade ins on well taken care of instruments, newer and vintage. We on average will give you 70% of approximate resale value. There are exceptions to this depending on many factors. Contact us to discuss further.
Trade-ins are final and void the 48 hour trial period.
Layaway
Want an instrument but need extra time? No problem! We offer an easy 90 Day Layaway Plan at no extra cost. Choose your in-stock instrument, pay the 25% non-refundable down payment, and it will be put away and held you. 25% payment is due every 30 days. Pay off the instrument in full within the 90 day period and it is yours!* Contact us for more details.
* Layaway down payments are non-refundable. Failure to pay in agreed time forfeits the purchase. Layaway sales are final and void the 48 hour trial period.
Consignments
Let us sell your instrument for you. Bring in your instrument or send it to us and we will do the rest – take professional detailed pictures, post to our website and Reverb.com, display it in our store and treat it as one of our own. We work with you to figure out a realistic selling cost. Our consignment fee is 25% the final selling price. We will cover all costs, fees and shipping when the instrument sells. We generally do not take consignments under $3,500. Contact us for more details.
Taxes and Fees
Prices listed on our website do not include shipping fees (if any) or duty tax/ custom fees for international shipping. Items shipped within IL are subject to 8% sale tax.
