The Tupelo open back is the most basic Old-Time model from OME Banjos, but built with all the care and craftsmanship as their most expensive model. This almost never been played, excellent condition banjo features their shorter 25.5” scale, wider 1.34” nut width, and their 17 fret S-scoop fingerboard. The 2-ply solid Maple rim is 9/16” thick and is capped with black Ebonite and bound with simulated Tortoise shell. A varnish finish is hand-rubbed generously and then sealed. The OME 12” maple Tone Rim construction combined with less brackets and wood rim-rod produce our “woodiest” Old-Time banjo tone.
The woods used in OME banjos are carefully selected, thoroughly air-dried, and skillfully matched. Vibrant Maple is chosen for the rim, while resonant and responsive South American mahogany is used for the neck and is gracefully hand-shaped for optimum comfort and playability. The OME fingerboard, peghead overlay, and heel cap are made of durable African Ebony. Multiple coats of hand rubbed varnish are applied and feature our tung oil and wax finish for a natural feel and warm appearance.
