Built in the Martin Custom shop, this D 12-fret was constructed with tonewoods and features we like. Quilted Bubinga (also called African rosewood) make up the back and sides with areally striking figuring and color. Topped with Italian Alpine Spruce and braced with Adirondack Spruce forward shifter scalloped bracing, this big and powerful guitar just sings.
Other custom features on the D 12-fret include Flamed European Maple binding, Abalone Alternate Torch fretboard inlay, rosette and CF Martin Block inlay on gloss Ebony overlay, Genuine Mahogany performing artist neck and more.
Bubinga brings out great tone with a big punch and bottom you find with Rosewood but the balance and clarity of Mahogany. The Italian Spruce top brings out clear, loud and present mids and highs with a crisp overall quality. This is a great flatpicking guitar, fingerstyle ala Norman Blake, folk strumming or really just about anything.
