The new 12 fret design from Lowden in Northern Ireland. Super comfortable and easy to play especially with the smaller S body shape. Built with George Lowden’s favorite wood combination of Master Grade African Blackwood and Sinker Redwood, this top of the line 50 series is a work of art. Amazing aesthetics like the master tonewoods, Tasmanian Blackwood bindings and custom comfort arm bevel, Abalone rosette and all wood purflings go hand in hand with the amazing tone from the rich warm bottom from the African Blackwood (a true Rosewood) to the clarity and balance of the Sinker Redwood. A perfect guitar for fingerstyle and alternate tunings, this also works great with a pick and a capo.
The fact that there are two totally different Blackwoods on this guitar can seem confusing. African Blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon) is just that, a dark blackish wood. Tasmanian Blackwood or Australian Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) is actually in the Koa family and is orange/ brown in color but was named for black stains on woodworker’s hands from the heavy tannins in the wood.
