The Bourgeois Jumbo OM, or JOM, is an original body style developed by Dana Bourgeois. In response to players’ requests for a mid-sized guitar, one with the balance and clarity of an OM but with a bigger presence, the idea was simple. Start with the OM outline, enlarge it a bit, play around with the curves and deepen the sides. The result is a wonderfully versatile guitar; larger than an OM, smaller than a dreadnought. Very capable of handling almost any playing style you can imagine, and equally capable of operating in solo or ensemble situations. Add in the secret ingredient of a large sound hole (LSH) to further balance out the mid range yet add extra punch, and use exquisite premium tone woods and you have just have it. Super powered big OM? Comfortable, balanced and clear smaller dreadnought? You decide.
This excellent condition 2019 one-of-a-kind jumbo OM was sold new through us originally and we are jazzed to offer this to you once again. We were blown away with this build the first time, and we might love it even more the 2nd time through. Built with hand picked 5A Master Grade Flamed Cuban Mahogany back and sides with no stain and torrefied Aged Tone Adirondack Spruce top and braces, this is a winning tone wood combination. The premium flamed Cuban is just a bit denser than standard Honduran Mahogany, and gives it a little extra bunch with just a tad darker overtones.
Dana Bourgeois’ DB Signature design package includes Flamed Hawaiian Koa bindings, multi-colored wood herringbone top purfling, wood arrow backstrip and Gold Waverly tuners with Snakewood buttons. We added the Flamed Koa bound large soundhole with Abalone rosette just for that extra classy touch, tying this tasty custom build together.
