Talk about a combination of the highly sought after and rare top and premium woods and specs in a one of a kind show stopping custom Santa Cruz build. If you are looking for a master crafted guitar built with wood with a story, this is for you. This heirloom collector’s F-41 is built with 3000 year old (!) Ancient Sitka Spruce top with natural finish paired with highly Flamed Maple back, sides and neck with rich and colorful Amethyst finish. The top and rosette are trimmed in Blue Paua Pearl with full natural finish Maple bindings to match. Braces made with Adirondack Spruce, an extremely light yet stiff wood, drive the custom F, with Hot Hide Glue construction just like the old guitars. If you wanted a rare Santa Cruz with an eye popping build, and one that has none other like it, you have found it with the stunning F-41 Amethyst.
The Ancient Sitka Spruce top was unearthed on an island of Alaska after being buried in a landslide over 3000 years ago. Over the 3 millennia, the color has naturally changed to the ghostly hue it is now. That is not a stain- the smoky green/ grey color is the actual color of the wood. The tree was estimated to be 1000 years old when it fell. Due to the capsulizing of the tree, it did not rot but rather it aged over that time. That it was retrieved, found to be in workable condition, and then quarter sawn to make an amazing guitar, is an extraordinary feat for this piece of wood. There is an amazing tone and clarity of this Ancient Sitka Spruce top, which had been curing and aging already for a 1000 years at the time of Christ. You can feel the history with every strum.
