The S-50 is George Lowden’s premium smaller/ mid sized short scale guitar featuring master grade tonewoods. This excellent condition pre-owned 2018 model has the very rare offering of Ancient Bog Oak for the back and sides paired with a Lutz Spruce top and custom figured Maple arm bevel. The master grade Bog Oak here from Lowden is dated to over 5,300 years old! The Oak was harvested from a peat bog in the UK and has been submerged in complete darkness for thousands of years. The beginning stages of fossilization and the sediment give it this rare black hue, very similiar to African Blackwood. The wood has aged over millenia to become and extremely dense yet highly vibrant tone wood that is amazing to behold. Lowden has paired the Oak for this guitar with premium Lutz Spruce (Picea x Lutzi), a natural occurring hybrid of Sitka Spruce and White Spruce. Blending the positive characteristics of Sitka Spruce and White spruce (and its cousin, Engelmann spruce) together equals the robust tonal output found usually only in Adirondack spruce.
