Shortening a neck from 14 to 12 frets moves the bridge closer to the tail block, by a distance exactly equal to the length by which the neck is shortened. This configuration places the bridge at the center of the widest part of the lower bout, the most efficient location from which to drive a top. In the larger Bourgeois DS 12-Fret Slope D, the result is an uncommonly full, rich and bold unique voice.
This DS 12-Fret Vintage is built with Indian Rosewood back and sides paired with an Adirondack Spruce black top. A great pairing of tone woods, build and body size and result in a big sound with power, clarity, warmth, depth and punch. Reminiscent of the pre-war bid body dreadnoughts of the day. The Indian Rosewood back and sides is warm and balanced with a thicker harmonic undertone and the very light and stiff Adirondack Spruce top drives the vastness of tone. Notes ring through easily at the lightest strum or fingerpicked. The full and rich open power of a 12-fret dreadnought guitar is a force to reckon with.
Other features includes Aged Tone torrefied Adirondack Spruce bracing, Mahogany neck with slotted headstock and volute, 1930’s styel herringbone top purfling, Ebony fretboard and bridge, extra vintage Ivoroid rosette, Ivoroid body bindings, Abalone Pearl square and diamond fretboard inlays, Madagascar Rosewood headstock overlay, Waverly tuners with Ivoroid buttons, extra vintage backstrip, 1 23/32″ nut width, 2.2″ saddle spacing, 25.5″ scale length and more.
