The name Banjo Killer was coined by flatpicking great Bryan Sutton for his six-stringed onstage sidekick, back in the day when he burst onto the bluegrass scene in the late 1990s. Featuring a double scalloped “Banjo Killer” X brace design, stiffer back bracing and a 25.5” scale, it’s a powerhouse sloped shoulder dreadnought.
This Slope D Banjo Killer model is built with highly figured Beeswing Mahogany back and sides paired with a Bearclaw Sitka Spruce natural top and Ziricote fretboard and bridge plus overlay on the signature Bourgeois ‘snakehead’ style headstock. Other features include Adirondack Spruce “Banjo Killer” double scalloped bracing, Ivoroid body and neck bindings, DB signature wood arrow backstrip, Mother of Pearl dot inlays and logo, Mahogany satin neck, Nickel Waverly tuners with Ivoroid buttons, 1 23/32″ nut width and more.
This is indeed a guitar worthy of it’s name. The deep and warm bass, punch of the mids and clarity of the highs will cut through any jam and then some.
