The Sinker Bearclaw Sitka Spruce was reclaimed from an old Alaskan fish trap and was originally cut around the turn of the century late 1800’s/ early 1900’s. The logs were tied together to make huge floating fish traps. This rare tonewood was salvaged from 100+ year-old structures originally used to corral and trap salmon. A century of submergence under brackish waters has imparted unique resonant characteristics and a slight bluish hue to this remarkable tonewood. A great pairing with the old growth Sinker Sitka is this sweet set of Cocobolo for the back and sides. Cocobolo (Dalbergia retusa) is a premium Rosewood from Central America. A great substitute for the famed and rare Brazilian Rosewood, Cocobolo has warmth, depth and clarity of tone along with stunning color and contrast.
Other features include Ebony fretboard and bridge, Mahogany satin finish neck with slotted headstock, Cocobolo headstock overlay, Koa heelcap and wedge, Bone slotted diamond and squares fretboard inlay and arrows headstock inlay, 1 3/4″ nut width, 2 5/16″ saddle spacing and more.
Graceful and balanced for the stage, recording studio or your living room. The OMSC is a versatile guitar with clear, piano-like qualities. Warm bass and mids with bell-like highs that just fall off your fingers. A quintessential fingerstyle by historical design, it is also a great guitar for strumming, chord melody and flatpicking as well.
About the OMSC
Dana Bourgeois thinks of the OMS as the 12 fret version of the OM, as opposed to the other way around. It boasts all the tonal properties of the OM, with the added power and fullness of a 12 Fret. The 12 Fret design places the soundhole closer to the waist of the guitar and locates the bridge at the widest part of the lower bout. This is where it can most efficiently drive the top. This throwback design allows maximum power with minimum playing effort while affording a loose, open quality to the sound. If you find yourself missing those extra two frets on standard 12 fret guitars, take them back! The OMSC has the added soft cutaway with extra frets to spare.
