McPherson MG-4.5XPH Tri-Wood Custom Flamed Redwood, Koa and Macassar Ebony Used (2006)

McPherson has been building forward thinking, innovative guitars in Sparta, WI for over 30 years. Their offset soundhole, cantilevered necks and crossed ply bracing have been hallmarks of their unique design. This custom model with 4.5″ body depth is one of the most unique. It is the first ever tri-wood guitar they have built. A Flamed Redwood top, Flamed Hawaiian Koa sides and a Macassar Ebony back combine in an amazingly delicious trifecta of mastergrade tone woods. It is gorgeous to behold and blends together with incredible contrast that makes it seem right at home. The custom heelcap, normally reserved for as a match for the hardwood back and sides, shared both the Koa and Ebony together. It is pure eye candy, plain and simple. The tone is fabulous with the Macassar lending a slightly forward reflecting volume and overall punch with a slightly darker harmonic in the lows/ mids. It takes the time tested combination of Redwood and Koa but adds a touch of gusto.
There is a repaired ding on the top bottom bout binding (see picture). You can feel it but it’s sound. There is a scratch about 2 1/2″ long on the back in the center going south of the heel cap. The scratch is visible, but not deep. Could probably be dealt with some heavy buffing. A few small, tiny to dings but still all in all it is in excellent condition. L.R. Baggs pickup built in. Label personalized as custom build for original owner.

Includes original deluxe hardshell case.

Free shipping in the continental United States.
