Huss & Dalton 000-SP All Sinker Mahogany Custom

Just in, this is a stunning 000-SP all Sinker Mahogany short scale with no stain. ‘Sinker’ Mahogany is a term for this old growth Mahogany cut down in the late 19th century and has been literally sunken in a river in Belize for over 100 years until recently salvaged. We waited for a while to get a wonderful 4 piece bookmatched top and back. We also custom ordered this 000 with no stain (usually Mahogany has a darker stain on it), an Abalone Pearl rosette and hide glue bracing. Standard features include slotted headstock and Ebony pyramid bridge and a short scale configuration.

Includes a deluxe TKL tweed hardshell case and lifetime warranty.

Free shipping the continental United States.

About Sinker Mahogany

There are many great characteristics of Sinker Mahogany. First and foremost, it’s old wood. It’s been aging in a sort of time capsule, not rotting because it was buried in the muck and peet at the bottom of a river. The rivers in Belize were used by the British in the 1800’s to float these logs out of the rain forest to the coast to ship back to England. Some got caught up or sank and have been preserved there for over 100 years by sinking in the mud. The created a rare situation where this wood slowly aged and matured over that time.

Color and striping is another great characteristic/ by product of sunken wood. Some of these logs have soaked up minerals from the soil adding striking colorization to the woods. We prefer Sinker Mahogany to be unstained to show off the natural variations it has. On this specific guitar, we are fortunate to have gotten a 4 piece bookmatched set. Bookmatched is a term used when a single piece of wood is split and has a mirror image when placed side by side on a back. This guitar has 4 pieces split from the same wood. 2 for the top and 2 for the back.
