This is an excellent condition 000 12-fret short scale built for us custom in 2011. Very well taken care of. Features a wonderful handpicked Italian Spruce top with bearclaw figuring and Sinker Mahogany from Belize for the back and sides custom with no stain. This is a great combination for this body size producing a warm, rich bass and low mids with forward mids, clear and crisp highs. Nice balance across with no heavy overtones. Perfect finger style guitar yet strong enough for strumming and flatpicking no problem.
If you like wood with a story, it doesn’t get any better. The Mahogany used on this guitar is old growth wood from Belize that was originally cut in the 19th century when it was a British colony. The rivers of Belize were the main source of transporting these giant logs. Occasionally the denser logs would sink and have forgotten for over 100 years. Because of the high organic content of the river bottoms, these logs did not rot. They aged in the mineral rich waters that give the wood an amazing color. This guitar is custom ordered with no stain for that reason. The top Spruce is high altitude Alpine Spruce from the slopes of Italy. this is the same woods Stratavarius used on his priceless violins! It is dense yet very light and flexible, and transfers energy at a high rate for volume and clarity.
