This is an exquisite custom 00 12-fret from Huss & Dalton, and undoubtedly one of the most stunning guitars they ever built. We paired this beautiful set of Tasmanian Tiger Myrtle back and sides with a wonderful ‘Bearclaw’ Italian Spruce top with a custom sunburst. Bound with vivid Bloodwood on the entire body, neck and headstock and finished with Abalone 41 style top purfling, custom Abalone and double ring Bloodwood rosette and 45 style snofflake fretboard inlays. Not to mention the Mahogany neck with no stain, Tiger Myrtle headstock overlay with colored Abalone logo and Ebony belly bridge, this guitar is absolutely stunning.
Kimberly Dalton emailed us upon shipping: “This is a warning…brace yourself! you are about to see the most beautiful guitar we may have ever built! (Mark D says so!) Wow.” We absolutely agree. This was designed for wonderful tone yet to be total eye candy. We wanted a top to compliment the colorful striped Tiger Myrtle and the Red Bloodwood binding with Maple purfl and to accent the colored Ablone trim, so we had Huss & Dalton do a vibrant sunburst that highlights the bearclaw in the Italian Spruce top as well as tie it all together. How does it sound? Amazing. Wonderfully balanced with a nice darker bass and full mids and clean and clear high mids and highs. Perfectly comfortable fingerstyle lap guitar with a 1 3/4″ nut width and 2 5/16″ saddle spacing.
About Tiger Myrtle
Tasmanian “Tiger” Myrtle (Nothofagus cunninghamii) is an extremely rare wood found in Southeast Australia and New Zealand. The heartwood ranges from light pink to reddish brown with dark black streaks which produce a figure reminiscent of stripes on a tiger or a dot-like figure similar to what is seen on a leopard. Tiger Myrtle is a dense wood and produces an array of complex tones from the responsiveness of rosewood to the mid range of mahogany. It is snappy with plenty of punch.
